In 2006 we staged our second show, which was a great success. We were able to donate £1,010 to the Organ Transplant Unit at the FreemanHospital in Newcastle. The show attracted 160 vehicles of various years of manufacture and make. It was quite a spectacle and all agreed that the day had been a resounding success.
Exhibitors brought a fascinating array of vehicles with Victorian and Edwardian bicycles, vintage and classic motorcycles, cars, tractors and commercial vehicles - something to interest everyone. The cars ranged from the diminutive Austin 7 to a glorious 1930's Lagonda, Morris Minors, MGs, a Clino and many more. The commercials included two Scammel Tractor Units, a Thames Trader and an Austin Wagon which used to belong to the Gas Board. The steam road roller, however, really stole the day, and we hope to see more steamers at the next show.
Three trade stands were present, a stick maker with some beautiful examples of his craft, a number plate maker and a model cabinet maker. We hope to have some autojumble stalls at the next show.
Refreshments were provided by our local ladies at the village hall. A fine selection of cakes, sandwiches, salads and tea and coffee were all there, at very reasonable prices.
Feedback from all who attended was 100% positive, "A wonderful day".
